Herbert W. Truesdell, 90, of Andes, passed away early Saturday morning, July 26, 2025, at Albany Medical Center, following a short illness.

Born on Nov. 18, 1934 in Andes, he was the son of the late William and Mabel (McQueen) Truesdell.

Herb served in the U.S. Army after being drafted during the Korean War.

He worked for over 28 and a half years as a truck and heavy equipment operator for the Town of Andes Highway Department until his retirement. Herb also worked at various local dairy farms from a young age and also worked in construction and excavating over the years.

With a strong work ethic Herb didn’t take much time out for himself but when time did allow he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and snowmobiling.

Besides his parents Herb was predeceased by his wife Carol (Merwin) Truesdell in 2000, along with a brother James Truesdell, and sister, Marian Calhoun.

He is survived by two sons, Herbert (Nancy McNamara) Truesdell of Andes and Gene Truesdell of West Winfield, grandchildren Shelby (Paul) Mantello of Maryland, Jeremy (Nichole) Truesdell of Georgia, Dannielle Drumm of Pennsylvania and Ethan McNamara of Walton; great-grandchild Leona Mantello; close friend John Bouton of Andes; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Andes Cemetery, Andes.
