Heart of the Catskills Humane Society will mark the holiday season with its annual “Holiday for the Heart” celebration and tree raffle on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Norris Gallery at the Delaware County Historical Association, 46549 State Highway 10 in Delhi, a short distance from the shelter.
The event, a longstanding fundraiser for the shelter’s animals, will feature more than 30 pre-lit and fully decorated holiday trees, in both large and small sizes. In addition to trees, guests may purchase raffle tickets for a range of themed items, including decorated sleds, ice skates and handmade wooden trees.
All trees and raffle items will be on display in the Norris Gallery from Monday, Dec. 1, through Friday, Dec. 5, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., when visitors are welcome to preview the decorations and buy tickets in advance. Raffle tickets will be sold at $5 for a single ticket and $25 for six. Winners will be drawn and announced on Dec. 6 at 3 p.m.
Organizers say this year’s tree themes, created by local families, clubs and individuals, range from “Mrs. Claus’s Bakery,” “Polar Express” and “The Velveteen Rabbit” to “The Money Tree,” “Diversity Is Divine” and “Twilight Fairies.”
The celebration will also include live music, warm soup, holiday shopping at the shelter’s “Beastie Boutique,” a jewelry table and a bake sale. All proceeds support Heart of the Catskills Humane Society and the care of homeless animals awaiting adoption.
Donated goods and supplies for the shelter may be dropped off at the Heart of the Catskills facility on Route 10 in Delhi, Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. For more information, call 607-746-3080 or visit www.heartofthecatskills.org
