Honest Brook Music Festival Summer Season Begins July 11

DELHI - Described by Forbes Magazine as, “An intimate and memorable listening experience by young artists performing classical solo and chamber music,” the Honest Brook Music Festival opens its 38th summer season July 11, with The Frisson Quartet. Under the direction of oboist Tom Gallant, they will perform music by Handel, Mozart, Luyre, Sibelius, and Beethoven. The concerts are located in a restored historic dairy barn, noted for its outstanding acoustics, outside the scenic village of Delhi in the western Catskill Mountains. All concerts begin at 4 p.m., and tickets may be purchased online at https://www.hbmf.org/tickets Tickets are $100 for the series of four concerts, and $30 for individual concerts.

The Honest Brook Music Festival will present the exciting young pianist, Kiron Atom Tellian Saturday, July 18. Winner of the Paul A. Fish Memorial Prize, the prestigious Young Concert Artists Susan B. Wadsworth Auditions, the Alexei Sultanov Discovery Prize, and the Nashville International Chopin Competition, he is praised for his artistry, imagination, and commanding presence at the keyboard. In May of this year, Operaclick wrote, “Tellian must be considered…one of the greatest and most original living pianists.” He will be performing a virtuosic program including etudes by Chopin and Scriabin, and the Symphonic Etudes by Robert Schumann.

On Sunday, Aug. 2, the festival continues with the superb saxophonist, Estel Vivó Casanovas, performing with pianist Eric Sedgewick. A native of Barcelona, Spain, and winner of the 2022 Young Concert Artists Susan B. Wadsworth Auditions, as well as First Prize at the 2024 Manhattan International Competition, she will perform works by Fritz Kreisler, Manuel De Falla, and J. S. Bach, among others.

The final concert of the series on Aug. 9 features Trio Azura, winners of the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in 2024, and described by Gramaphone as one of the most rapidly rising young ensembles characterized by “intelligence and imagination” and “profound emotion.” They will be performing works by Sergei Rachmaninov, Jennifer Higdon, and Felix Mendelssohn.
