Kids Take Center Stage at the Fair

Children will find more than rides waiting for them during this year’s Delaware County Fair.

Tuesday’s, Aug. 18, annual Children’s Day will feature the largest bicycle giveaway in fair history.

“We’re giving away 250 bikes to celebrate America’s 250,” Fair Board President Jason Craig said. “This is the most bikes we have ever given away at the Delaware County Fair.”

The bicycles are being donated through local sponsors, while Dreamland Amusements will distribute $1,000 in cash prizes during the event, culminating in one grand prize drawing.

Throughout the week, younger visitors can also enjoy Mr. Scribbles’ imaginative artwork in the Sportsmen Federation-area, balloon twisting by BJ the Clown, DockDogs demonstrations and interactive agriculture games.

Children can also meet Oakley the Tree Man, direct from the forest of imagination. Oakley the Tree Man (created and performed by Cliff Spenger) will be strolling through the grounds, bringing nature to life in the most extraordinary way.

Is that a tree moving? You bet! Oakley the Tree Man combines nature-inspired magic with interactive, walk-around fun that’s bound to surprise, delight, and leave whole families with unforgettable memories (and fantastic photo opportunities). Keep your eyes peeled—you never know where this leafy legend will root down next!
