MARGARETVILLE - Come to historic Main Street Margaretville Nov. 25, to enjoy Holiday on Main. This decade-long tradition begins at 2 p.m. with over 22 stores and restaurants offering festive specials that run through 5 p.m. Join the community as it celebrates the holiday season with the annual lighted parade at 4:30 p.m. Local fire departments, community organizations and businesses roll and march down Main Street in lighted festive glory.

Holiday on Main began 10 years ago when local businesses came together to create a merry tradition for the community that would also support local commerce on “Shop Small Saturday” which takes place every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Over the past decade Main Street Margaretville has flourished and is now home to even more unique shops, galleries, specialty stores, wine bars and restaurants.

Santa and Mrs. Claus warmly invite families in for a visit, hot cocoa and photos between 2-4 p.m. in the American Legion Hall as the famous couple get ready for their traditional ride on the Margaretville Fire Department’s Ladder Truck which brings up the rear of the parade that rolls down Main Street at 4:30 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus then retire to the American Legion Hall to end the evening with more photo opportunities. The Legion will also be home to a holiday pop-up market chocked full of local crafts.

Visitors can stop by the Catskill Mountain Christian Center for a beautiful live nativity during the afternoon, and on Orchard Street can stop in at the giant model train display at the First Presbyterian Church. The 13th annual “Artists Choose Artists” exhibit will be taking place at the Longyear Gallery from 3-5 p.m.

Holiday on Main is supported by the village of Margaretville, the Central Catskills Chamber of Commerce and paid for in part by the Delaware County Tourism Grant Initiative, Margaretville Telephone Company and administered by the MARK Project.
