Those who use public library computers are asked to complete a short survey on how you use library computers at forms.gle/Bk11gGfDo4obBAUc8 ). The information will be used to improve services.

Library events

One-on-one tech support Tuesdays in May, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Those that need help learning to use features on iPhones or want to know how to use a program or application on your tablet or computer, a community volunteer will be at the library Tuesdays from 10 a.m. until noon to assist and answer questions. Sign-up in advance for a 30-minute one-on-one session.  

Bridge group, Tuesdays, 11 a.m. for those interested in learning to play bridge  or those that know how and are looking for others to play with can come to the library Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Walton’s Wednesday Bridge Group will be available to teach beginning bridge, review the basic rules, and to engage in play.

Knit & Crochet Group meets Tuesdays, 3 p.m. on the main floor of the library for yarn crafts and conversation. Bring the project you are working on and enjoy friendly conversation as you knit and crochet.

Mahjong: Thursdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m. on the main floor for those who love to play or want to learn. All skill levels welcome. 

Storytime is Fridays, 10:30 a.m. Join Amber on the lower level for rhymes, songs stories and a simple craft to entertain your littles. Storytime themes: May 5 - Gardens; May 12 - Frogs; May 19 -Unicorns; May 26 - Construction Vehicles.

Afterschool Art: Georgia O’Keefe: Friday, May 5, 3 p.m. Kids age 8 and up, are invited to the library to create paper poppies inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe. Together we will learn about her life and works. Supplies and snacks provided free of charge. Bring a smock if desired.

Author reading and book signing: Saturday, May 6, 11 a.m. Local children’s author Melissa Steinbrecher will read her new book, “Becoming Sawyer.” 

Medicare 101: Saturday, May 13, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. for those currently enrolled in Medicare or will turn 65 over the next year or two. Learn about eligibility, how and when to enroll, when you can make changes, and the insurance options available to you. Review and compare what services are covered/not covered under Medicare Parts A, B, C and D. Detail the costs associated with medical and drug insurance. Explore and evaluate Original Medicare, Medicare Supplement Insurance, Prescription Drug Plans and Medicare Advantage Plans. This program will simplify the choices you need to make, help you make more well-informed decisions and explain what Medicare means for you. This is an educational event. Home: An Altered Book Project: Tuesdays - May 16, 23, 30, and June 6, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. A local history art project for older adults (50+) at Ogden Library. An Altered Book Project is a multidisciplinary art project created by visual artist Caryn T. Davis in collaboration with the Library and local historians. The finished project will reflect the personal connections that participants have to their home and their community. During the artist reception on Saturday, June 17, at 11 a.m., an audience of friends, family and community members will be invited to celebrate each artist and learn about Delaware County through their Altered Books. There is no cost to participate but sign-up is required. Contact the Library at 607-865-5929 or wboflibrary@gmail.com to reserve your spot. 

Book & Film Chat: Tuesday, May 16, 2 p.m. New time! We gather on the lower level of the library to share reviews of titles we have read and watched. This group enjoys a wide range of genres and subject interests. Everyone is welcome. Come add your recommendations to the conversation.  

Board game night: Wednesday, May 17, 6:30-8 p.m. on the lower level for a night of board gaming. There will be a variety of games such as Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, and Monopoly Speed. Ray Haywood has agreed to teach anyone how to play. Come, have fun, and learn something new. If you would rather play a classic board game the library has a collection of those as well.

Crafterwork: Book & Button Flower Bouquets: Thursday, May 18, 6:30 p.m. Adults are invited to come to the library for an evening of crafting. This month participants will make book and button flower bouquets. Materials are provided; patrons are encouraged to bring a pair of needle nose pliers.

Lego Club: Rockets: Friday, May 19, 3 p.m. Kids in grades K-5 will gather on the lower level of the library for our monthly Lego challenge. This month - rockets! Legos are provided. No sign up necessary. Creations will be displayed in the children’s room for one month.

Teen Saturday: make your own magnets Saturday, May 20, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. This monthly event is for grades 6+. Add some flair to your locker or your fridge at home with custom designed magnets. Craft supplies and a pizza lunch are provided free. Meet on the lower level. Bring your friends.

Library board of trustees regularly scheduled meeting: Tuesday, May 23, 7 p.m. at the library. The public is encouraged to attend.

Book club discussion: Wednesday, May 24, 7 p.m. on the lower level of the library. This month we are reading “Velvet Was the Night” by Silvia Moreno-Garcia ©2021. Copies can be reserved by calling the library at 607-865-5929, or by visiting www.4cls.org

Android Texting Class: Thursday, May 25, 6-7 p.m. Do you want to learn how to text using your Android phone? Deb Underwood, retired help desk coordinator at SUNY Delhi, will present a one-hour class on texting basics with Android phones. In this class, participants will learn how to text a new message and respond to incoming texts, add pictures (your own photos) and gifs (images that come on your phone), send location, send voice texts, and about group messaging. Register in advance - space is limited.

Full STEAM Ahead: Pipe Cleaner Constellations: Friday, May 26, 3 p.m. Kids ages 8+ are invited to the library after school for a fun and educational STEAM activity. We will create pipe cleaner constellations (a grouping of stars that make up a pattern) and learn about the different constellations you can see in the night sky. There will also be an opportunity to create a star wheel that will teach the location and names of various constellations. All materials and snacks provided free of charge.
