MURAL is proud to announce the opening of a new show featuring the works of Terry Slade and Fiona M. Dejardin.
For over 30 years, Terry Slade has exhibited work all over New York state, including New York City, New England, Hawaii, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Memphis, Britain, France and Japan.
The work Slade is showing at MURAL continues his exploration of the relationship between humans and the natural world. The drawings and glass works he calls “Much Larger Things to Worry About” consider the failure of humans to live in harmony with the earth. Slade is Professor Emeritus of Art and Sculptor in Residence at Hartwick College, Oneonta. Examples of his work can be seen at www.flickr.com/photos/tsladeart/.
Fiona M. Dejardin is a retired Professor of Art History at Hartwick College. For over 20 years, she has been making lampworked beads, mostly from rods of Venetian glass, that she then combines into unique jewelry. Using a stationary torch, Dejardin builds up layers of colored glass, winding it onto a metal shaft; the layers allow for multiple colors and texture in the finished bead, some of which might take an hour to make.
This new show opens at the MURAL Gallery in Hobart with an artists’ reception Saturday, Aug. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m.; refreshments will be served. The show will run through Sept. 24.
The MURAL Art Gallery, 631 Main Street, Hobart, hours are Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
