Night of Song With Chris Pierce April 18

STAMFORD — An evening of stripped-down performance and storytelling will bring the nationally recognized singer-songwriter Chris Pierce to the Headwaters Arts Center on Saturday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m., offering what organizers describe as a rare, close-range encounter with an artist known for emotional precision.

Pierce, whose work draws from folk, blues and Americana traditions, has built a wide audience over decades of touring and recording. His 2021 album American Silence was named the year’s top folk release by PopMatters, and his song “Residential School” was later included among Folk Alley’s “100 Essential Folk Songs.” A forthcoming album, Songs for the Heavy Hearted, is expected to be previewed during the performance.

Pierce has performed alongside artists including B.B. King, Al Green and Steve Earle, and gained broader attention when Neil Young selected him as an opening act on his Coastal Tour. His co-written song “We Can Always Come Back to This,” featured on the television series This Is Us, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Chart.

Recent collaborations include a duet with Sara Bareilles through Playing for Change and appearances alongside Allison Russell. He has also performed at festivals such as the Newport Folk Festival and MerleFest, and appeared on NPR programs including World Café and Mountain Stage.

The Stamford performance will be staged in a house-style format, with folding chairs provided and attendees encouraged to bring blankets or additional seating, underscoring the informal setting.

Tickets are offered through a tiered pricing model ranging from $5 to $20. Additional information is available through the Roxbury Arts Group at headwaters@roxburyartsgroup.org or www.roxburyartsgroup.org
