Have you read a delicious book lately and can’t wait to tell someone about it? Did you read a thriller that had you turning pages into the early morning? Or a historical fiction so realistic you could hear the swooshing of ball gowns? Maybe it was one of our new nonfiction that made you think of our world in a whole new way. If you’ve read a great book, when you return it to the library, let us know and a “Recommended Read” bookmark will be placed inside it.
Storytime, Fridays, 10:30 a.m. Join Amber on the lower level for rhymes, songs, and stories to entertain your littles; includes a simple craft.
A dinosaur scavenger hunt will happen all month in celebration of Dinovember. Find ten dinosaur pictures hidden around the library, bring your completed sheet to the circulation desk, earn a dino sticker and enter to win a dinosaur dig science kit.
Girl Scout recruiting event Wednesday, Nov. 2, 6 p.m. All local girls are invited to the library for crafts and to learn what Girl Scouts is about. Girl Scouts make friends, have adventures and make a difference in the world. If your girl is ready to get out into the world, Girl Scouts can be her partner in those experiences.
Lego Club: Friday, Nov. 18, 3:30 p.m. Kids in grades K-5 gather on the library’s lower level. Legos are provided. Creations will be displayed in the display case. This month we make dinosaurs.
Teen Meeting: Nailed It - cupcake decorating: Saturday, Nov. 19, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Will you “nail” or “fail” our cupcake challenge? Test your cupcake decorating skills by making both a rainbow and turtle themed cupcake design. All supplies provided free of charge. Grades 6+. Bring a friend.
General Interest Programs
Walton First Friday: Friday, Nov. 4, 4-8 p.m. The library will extend its hours as part of Walton First Fridays. Regular services and a special “books ala cart” book sale.
Edible books contest: Saturday, Nov. 5, 11 a.m.
Calling creative book lovers who like to play with food. Make an edible creation that’s inspired from a book, whether it be a title, character, or scene, and bring it to the library Nov. 5. Stay to view the other creations, vote for your favorite, and maybe sample a few good books. The public is welcome to come and see what your neighbors have created. Awards will be given in three categories: judges’ choice, people’s choice, and “punniest” creation.
Book Sale: Saturday, Nov. 26, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. While you “Spend the Day in Walton” browse the book sale on the lower level. Take as many as you like, give a donation if you are able; bring a bag or sturdy box.
Knit & crochet group: Tuesdays, 3 p.m. Gather on the main floor of the library for yarn crafts and conversation. Bring a project and enjoy conversation as you knit and crochet.
Mahjong: Thursdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Now starting earlier, this is for everyone who loves to play or wants to learn. Bring a friend or come alone. All skill levels welcome; on the main floor.
Introduction to Needle Felting: Wednesday, Nov. 9, 6 p.m. This introductory workshop will be taught by Christina Mitchell and her daughter Mary. Participants will make a felted gingerbread person. Supplies are provided, but sign up is required.
Book & Film Chat: Tuesday, Nov. 15, 3 p.m. on the library’s lower level. Share reviews of titles read and watched. This group enjoys a wide range of genres and subject interests. Everyone is welcome. Come add your recommendations to the conversation.
Book Club Discussion: Wednesday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m. on the library’s lower level. This month we are reading, “Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law,” by Mary Roach ©2021.

Crafterwork: Thursday, Nov. 17, 6:30 p.m. Adults are invited to meet on the library’s lower level. All the materials needed to make a cute felt pie garland will be provided. Crafterwork is a great opportunity for a little self-care and to meet informally with other members of the community.
