Quiet Turnouts Mark Village Elections Across Delaware County

Low voter turnout and uncontested races defined village elections throughout Delaware County on March 18.

In Delhi, incumbents Jeremy Fitch and Barbara Sturdevant won uncontested trustees seats, with 37 and 36 votes, respectively. They will serve five year terms.

Franklin voters selected uncontested incumbents Johanna VanDeusen as mayor with 30 votes for a two-year term, and Constance Martin secured a trustee seat with 26 votes.

In Hancock, 93 ballots were cast - 84 in person and nine absentee - in a multi-candidate race. James Picozzi led the field with 71 votes for a four year justice seat; incumbent Dorothy Picozzi secured a two year trustee seat with 60 votes and Jason Mead retained his seat with 51 votes.

Hobart’s trustee races drew modest participation, with Randy A. Roe receiving 16 votes and Kayla Mason 14 for four-year terms.

In Margaretville Jeffrey Warren received 31 votes and David Budin 30 votes for two-year trustee seats.

Walton saw the highest vote totals among reporting villages. incumbent Eric Northrup led with 119 votes, followed closely by Virginia O’Dell with 116, securing trustee seats. Write-in candidate Stephen Condon was unsuccessful in his bid for re-election, receiving 87 votes,

No elections were held this year in Sidney.

In Stamford, Clifford Roxburgh-Curley was elected to a four year trustee seat with 33 votes as a write-in candidate.
