The Roxbury Arts Group has announced an open call for artists to participate in a forthcoming group exhibition, The Things I Never Said, an exploration of memory, truth and the often-unheard human voice.
Submissions will be accepted through 4 p.m. on Feb. 24. The exhibition is scheduled to run from March 28 through June 27 at the Roxbury Arts Center, opening with a public reception on March 28 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The exhibition invites artists to consider what remains unspoken — truths long held, withheld confessions and stories that linger beneath the surface. Organizers describe the show as a space for expression that may be whispered or declared, intimate or urgent.
Artists working in a wide range of media are encouraged to apply, including painting, photography, textiles, ceramics, video and sound art. Works intended to remain in the gallery are limited to 30 by 30 inches, including frame. Larger works, as well as sound and video installations, may be considered for placement in the center’s auditorium or hall; accepted sound and video works must include their own playback equipment.
Applicants will be notified of decisions by Feb. 28, and accepted works must be delivered to the gallery by March 21. Artists are responsible for shipping costs, if applicable.
A tiered submission fee applies for up to three works per application, with a minimum fee of $10 and a suggested contribution of $25. Fees are waived for emerging and underserved artists. Submissions are processed through Jotform, and full application details are available at roxburyartsgroup.org/open-calls.
