Republican primaries to be held in Delaware County June 24

DELHI - Republican primaries will be held for a variety of elected positions throughout Delaware County in June. The winners of the primary will secure the Republican line in November’s general election.

Registered Republicans can vote in the primary.

There will be primaries in:

Colchester: Robert Hafele is challenging incumbent Arthur Merrill for the supervisor seat.

Delaware County Treasurer: Carli Pinner and Ronda Williams are competing for the Republican line on the ballot. Longtime Republican Treasurer Beverly Shields plans to retire and is not seeking reelection.

Hancock: David Rubera will challenge incumbent supervisor William (Jerry) Vernold.

Meredith: Richard Pagillo will challenge incumbent supervisor James Ellis. Edward Fisher and Bradley Hitchcock will competite for the Republican line for highway superintendent.

Sidney: Richard DeCola, Andrew Hinkley, and William Hunt will challenge incumbent Council member Franklin Selleck.

Stamford: Kenneth Muthig and Brent Trimbell will compete for the Republican line for highway superintendent.

Tompkins: Tania Backus and Betsy Drumm will compete for the town clerk/tax collector line.

Walton: Patrick White will challenge Luis Rodriguez Betancourt and Kevin Armstrong for a council member position.

Voting at local polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on June 24. Early voting will take place at the Delaware County Board of Elections, 97 Main Street, Delhi.

A ballot box outside the county election office will be available during early voting for drop-off ballots.
