The women of the Bergamot Quartet are part of a movement of new music performers whose passion for  the music of living composers is expanding the string quartet’s already rich tradition in Western classical music. For this compelling program, each piece was carefully selected for its unique sound world and attention to textural detail and their conversation with other pieces chosen. For example, ensemble member Ledah Finck’s piece, Something More Than Itself, features all four quartet members using their voices to augment the orchestration. Whereas the pieces Eye o da hurricane by UK-based Angela Slater and Escalay (Water Wheel) by the late Egyptian composer Hamza El Din present opposing perspectives of water, from spinning and stormy to steady and entrancing.

Come for a sonic adventure and stay for this beautiful sounds of the Bergamot Quartet in the exquisite acoustics of the the Old School Baptist Church in Denver, NY.
