Roxbury: The World In A Drop of Water, Sept. 5

Posted

ROXBURY - The public is invited to explore the science of water during a free presentation by Michelle Rissolo, chairperson of the Mid-Hudson Section of the American Chemical Society, on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. at John Burroughs’ Woodchuck Lodge, 1633 Burroughs Memorial Road.

In her presentation, “A Drop of Water,” Rissolo will examine what a single drop of water can reveal — where it came from, what microorganisms may be living in it, how it is recycled through natural processes and why understanding water is important.

Rissolo draws on experience from four careers, including serving as an environmental and safety manager, a tenured college professor, lead technical director for an Environmental Laboratory Approval Program facility and quality assurance and licensing manager for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.

The program is part of the Wild Saturday series at Woodchuck Lodge. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served, and museum tours will be available following the presentation.
