Andes Public Library will host a Latin Dance Party at the Andes Hotel, 110 Main Street, Andes, Saturday, April 20. Tickets are $70 per person and must be purchased with cash or check at the Andes Library, 242 Main Street, Andes prior to the event. All net proceeds will benefit the Andes Public Library programs, such as the Edible Landscape and weekly early childhood music classes.

At 4 p.m., former board member and professional ballroom dance instructor Debra Abbate will give a group lesson in beginner salsa dancing. Adult participants are invited to learn a basic salsa routine that they can use during the free dance portion of the evening.

A Latin/Spanish dinner buffet will be offered after the dance instruction at approximately 5:30. The buffet will include these options: steak fajitas, paella (chicken/seafood), carnitas (pulled pork), gazpacho soup, lime cilantro rice, black beans, guacamole, and churros with condiment offerings of sour cream, cheddar, jalapenos, lime, cilantro, pico de gallo, and salsa. Nonalcoholic beverages are included, but there will be a cash bar for those wishing to purchase alcohol during the event.

After dinner open Latin dancing will begin, with library director and local musician Pamela West-Finkle master of ceremonies/DJ for the evening. Everyone will be invited to take to the dance floor for a fun evening of Latin Dance. Participants are encouraged to dress with a Latin flair.
