The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced the availability of low-interest disaster loans for private non-profit organizations (PNPs) affected by the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby from Aug. 8-10. These loans are available to non-profits that do not provide critical government services, such as food kitchens, homeless shelters, museums, libraries, community centers, schools and colleges.

Eligible PNPs may qualify for loans of up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged real estate, equipment, inventory, and other assets. The loans carry a 3.25% interest rate with repayment terms of up to 30 years.

In addition, loan amounts may be increased by up to 20% of verified damages for mitigation purposes. This could include upgrades such as insulating pipes, weatherproofing doors and windows, and installing storm windows to help prevent future damage.

PNPs are encouraged to contact the Delaware County Emergency Services Office at 607-832-5600 or the Delaware County Planning Office at 607-832-5444 to learn more and submit information about their organization. The information will be sent to FEMA to determine eligibility for public assistance grants or SBA disaster loans. All submissions must be made by Nov. 8.

The SBA is also offering Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) to assist with working capital needs, even if no physical property damage occurred. The deadline to apply for EIDL assistance is June 24, 2025.
