Seasonal Blooms Take Center Stage at Roxbury Floral Workshop Sept. 19

Posted

ROXBURY — Locally grown flowers will take center stage at a floral design workshop led by Marcy Grobler of Sticky Petal Farm Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Roxbury Arts Center.

The workshop will run from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the arts center, 5025 Vega Mountain Road. Grobler will lead participants through the fundamentals of creating a seasonal floral arrangement using locally grown flowers.

The session will cover choosing a color palette, creating structure and balance, working with texture and caring for cut flowers to extend the life of an arrangement. Participants will leave with a completed arrangement in a vase and techniques they can use at home.

The workshop is intended for participants of all experience levels and will emphasize an intuitive approach to arranging seasonal flowers rather than a fixed set of design rules. Participants will explore how different flowers move and interact while learning practical techniques for handling fresh blooms.

Grobler grows flowers at Sticky Petal Farm in Jefferson using sustainable farming practices. They also create floral arrangements for weddings and other events throughout the Catskills, Hudson Valley and surrounding areas.

Registration and additional information are available through the Roxbury Arts Group at roxburyartsgroup.org
