More than 2,000 coats have been collected and distributed to families in need across the 51st Senate District, marking the successful conclusion of State Senator Peter Oberacker’s inaugural winter coat drive.
“I’m humbled and inspired by the support of our neighbors,” Senator Peter Oberacker said in a statement. Thousands will have warmth and comfort during the harshest months of the year because of their generosity. This effort is a powerful testament to what we can achieve together, he continued.
The drive was supported by a coalition of community organizations, including the Monticello Rotary Club, United Way of Sullivan County, the Angel Network of Cooperstown, Delaware Opportunities, United Way of Broome County, and the Joshua Project of Schoharie County.
Collection sites were set up throughout the district at local businesses, government offices, and community hubs, including the Jeff Bank of Monticello, Sullivan County Government Center, Liberty Police Department, Callicoon Town Hall, Senator Charles D. Cook Delaware County Office Building, the Laundry Basket of Cobleskill, and Ellenville Regional Hospital.
