DELHI - Sheriff Craig DuMond announced the promotion of two long-time Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Officers Corey Bene and Michael Ferraro to the position of corrections sergeants, effective March 5.
Bene, a 19-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, will directly supervise correctional officers assigned to his shift, as well as oversee a variety of daily activities within the correctional facility.
Ferraro, originally hired in 2010, left the agency for a brief time before being reappointed as correctional officer in November 2020. In June 2021, he was promoted to corrections corporal. Ferraro’s previous experience as a corporal and as the jail intelligence officer has helped prepare him to assume his new responsibilities as sergeant, a press release said.
Both sergeants are highly capable and well deserving of these promotions, DuMond said. As sergeants, they will provide crucial supervision to further the primary responsibility of maintaining a safe and secure correctional facility for both employees and incarcerated individuals, DuMond said.
