Sidney Library schedule for Feb. 9-28

The Sidney Memorial Public Library has released its scheduled events for February 9-28. Call the library at 607-563-1200 to register for programs and activities, or with questions regarding programs. For questions and registration for events at the Masonville Branch Library call 607-265-3330. The libraries will be closed Monday, Feb. 20 for President’s Day.

During February, art of Ed DeForest and Janet Vance is exhibited in Smart Community Room. 

Thursday, Feb. 9 3-4:30 p.m.: Crafts & Creations w/Miss Cassandra: Minute-to-win-it games. This in-person program was designed for school aged children and consists of Crafts, and STEAM activities. Different crafts/activities weekly.

Friday, Feb. 10 3-4:30 p.m.: Tween Club: If you are in grades 5-7, you are invited to Tween Club; crafts, games, computer fun, and more - a place for Tweens to hang out and be creative!

Saturday, Feb. 11 1 p.m.: Second Saturday Movie – Lightyear - a special showing of the children’s movie on a big screen in the community room. Rated PG; approximate run time one hour and 40 minutes. 

Monday, Feb. 13 1-3 p.m.: Open Tech Hours. Registration is required for those struggling with phones, laptops, or tablets. Stop by or call to register for a space.

3-4:30 p.m.: Minecraft Club (ages 8-17) Join the library’s private world and help complete objectives/create. Participants might play at our Osmo station or with robots Dash & Dot.

Tuesday, Feb. 14 10 a.m.: Story time theme - Valentine’s Day; stories, songs, rhymes, and a craft.

10:45 a.m.: PreK Library Learners. Unusual Animal ABC’s. Books, songs, rhymes and more in this PreK program.

11:30 a.m.: Friends of the Libraries Book Club monthly selection: “The Only Woman in the Room” by Marie Benedict. New members always welcome.

2:30-3:15 p.m. Zoom Lego Club: Builders of all ages welcome weekly for new Lego challenges selected by Miss Cassandra. Zoom link: us06web.zoom.us/j/95009586932

3:15-4:30 p.m.: In-person Lego Club for builders of all ages. Put your creativity to the test and build a masterpiece; free build or receive a challenge from Miss Cassandra. Participants will also have a chance to display their masterpieces in the glass case. 

4:30 p.m.: Board of Trustees meets every second Tuesday of the month at 4:30 p.m. Community members are welcome.

Wednesday, Feb. 15 3:30-5 p.m.: Teen Club: for those in grades 7-12. Crafts, games, computer fun, and more. Teens - hang out and get creative and - we always have snacks.

6-7 p.m.: Adult Trivia Night the fourth Wednesday of each month, 6 p.m. Expect four rounds of 10 questions. Each round will be a different topic. Compete as an individual or in a team of up to six players. Winners will be announced at the end of each round; grand prize winner at the end of the game.

Saturday, Feb. 18 10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Painting with Joy – This month’s theme Mountains and Trees. Join us for a great acrylic painting class; $5 materials fee due upon registration.

10:30 a.m.-1 p.m: Friends of the Libraries Books a la Carte.

Monday, Feb. 20 1-4 p.m. In-Stitches Quilting Group. 

Tuesday, Feb. 21 10 a.m.: Story time – This week- “Work it out Wombats,” in conjunction with WSKG; special video presentation by Director of WSKG Brieanna Moreno, followed by an activity. Join us for fun with stories, songs, rhymes and a craft.

10:45 a.m.: Music for Munchkins – Australian music - the theme. Come to Music for Munchkins the first and third Tuesdays at 10:45 a.m. for a story and a bouncing, dancing, good time.

2:30-3:15 p.m.: Zoom Lego Club -all age builders welcome for a new Lego challenge selected by Miss Cassandra. Builders will share their Lego Masterpieces. If time permits, we will do a quick challenge as well. Zoom link:  https://us06web.zoom.us/j/95009586932

11 a.m.: Pre-K Tablet Time – use Pre-K apps on the library tablets.
