SIDNEY — The Central New York Rotary Peace Team will host its first Rotary Area 9 and Delaware County Positive Peace Conversation at noon Friday, Oct. 23, at the St. Luke’s Church Community Room, 139 W. Main St., Sidney.
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Sidney and Rotary District 7180, the one-hour discussion will focus on the Positive Peace principle of maintaining good relations with neighbors.
The round-table conversation will center on four questions designed to encourage participants to reflect on the value of being a good neighbor and building stronger community relationships.
Organizers say Positive Peace Conversations are not intended to promote debate or force agreement. Instead, they offer a setting for curiosity, self-reflection, respectful dialogue and a deeper appreciation of the role good neighbors play in community life.
At a time of international conflict and changing attitudes at home, the conversations aim to help Rotarians and community members focus on strengthening relationships and fostering peace in their own communities.
The Sidney event marks an early step in the CNY Rotary Peace Team’s effort to incorporate Positive Peace principles into Rotary meetings and expand the discussions into the broader community.
