Sidney Thrift Store Nex-to-New to Relocate to Smith Street

SIDNEY — Nex-to-New, a long-running community thrift store staffed by volunteers, will soon relocate from its current storefront on Main Street to a new location on Smith Street.

The store, now at 11 Main Street, will remain open through Saturday, March 15. It will then close from March 15 through March 29 while volunteers pack inventory and prepare the move to its new home at 27 Smith Street, the former site of T & G Cabinetry.

Organizers said community members willing to help pack and move boxes during the transition are welcome.

Founded in 1970 through donations from area residents and staffed entirely by volunteers, Nex-to-New was created to provide affordable clothing and household items to the community. Today, the operation continues that mission with a team of about 16 volunteers, who run the store and sort incoming donations.

Proceeds from sales are distributed to nonprofit organizations in the Sidney area.

An opening date for the new location, along with regular hours for shopping and donations, will be announced.
