Carlee Dropp, daughter of Kallie and John Dropp of Hobart, has been named valedictorian of the South Kortright Central School Class of 2026. She plans to attend Marywood University in Pennsylvania, where she will major in exercise science.
Throughout her high school career, Carlee earned superintendent’s list recognition all four years and was an academic scholar-athlete. She participated in soccer, softball, and basketball for four years and served as class treasurer throughout high school. Carlee was also a four-year member of the National Honor Society and participated in numerous school clubs and activities.
Her honors include the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award, the Clarkson Leadership Award, the Wilkes University: Colonel Emerging Leader Award, and a variety of other academic, athletic, and class awards.
Melania Escobedo, daughter of Jessica and Jhonny Escobedo of South Kortright, has been named salutatorian of the South Kortright Central School Class of 2026. She plans to attend SUNY New Paltz, where she will major in psychology.
During high school, Melania was an active member of the National Honor Society, serving in leadership roles including president and secretary. She was recognized as an All-State Musician, was a member of the Math Honor Society, and participated at multiple levels as a NYSSMA soloist. In 2024, she attended the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Seminar and she was involved in several school clubs and activities throughout high school.
Melania received numerous academic honors, including the Alfred University Award, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Medal, and the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award from the University of Rochester, along with various other academic and extracurricular awards.
SKCS commencement is June 27 at 1 p.m.
