Stamford Workshop to Explain State Certification for Minority- and Women-Owned Businesses

STAMFORD - Business owners interested in obtaining New York State certification as a Minority- or Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) will have an opportunity to learn about the application process during a free workshop on Thursday, Aug. 6.

The program, hosted by the Western Catskills Community Revitalization Council (WCCRC) in partnership with the Empire State Development Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development, is scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the WCCRC Community Room at 125 Main St., located in the Stamford Village Apartments building.

Amanda Brennan, vice president of certifications for the state division, will discuss eligibility requirements, the certification process and the benefits available to certified MWBE businesses. The presentation will also cover state resources available to certified firms.

Jenny Low, executive adviser for MWBE and Small Business at Empire State Development, will provide on-site assistance to businesses that may be eligible for certification and answer questions from participants.
