STAMFORD — The Friends of Music of Stamford will continue its 40th anniversary season on Sunday, June 21, with a performance by the acclaimed Ivalas Quartet, a young ensemble that has gained national recognition for pairing classical masterworks with music by contemporary composers.

The 3 p.m. concert, hosted by the First Presbyterian Church at 96 Main Street, will feature violinists Reuben Kebede and Tiani Butts, violist Marcus Stevenson, and cellist Pedro Sánchez.

The quartet has distinguished itself through programming that highlights works by Black, Indigenous and other composers of color alongside pillars of the traditional chamber music repertoire. Their Stamford appearance will include music by Joseph Haydn, Derrick Skye and Antonín Dvořák, including Skye’s Deliverance, a work commissioned by Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts.

Admission is by donation at the door, with a suggested contribution of $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Children under 13 are admitted free. Cash and checks will be accepted; no advance reservations are required.
