Sue Lord Ellis of Delhi, New York, passed away June 22, 2026, after several years of declining health related to dementia. Born on February 27, 1948, in Delhi, New York. Sue was the daughter of Helen (Every) and Leon Lord.
A lifelong resident of Delhi, Sue built a meaningful career serving the people and institutions she cared about. She worked at SUNY Delhi and the Town of Delhi, dedicating her professional years to the place that shaped her.
Beyond her professional dedication, Sue found her greatest joy in her personal passions and her nieces and nephews. She was a talented knitter and seamstress and enjoyed gifting her creations to friends and family. She enjoyed gardening and music and was devoted to her dog, Jessie. She was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Delhi for many years and valued her relationships in the church community. Sue’s vibrant, joyful laugh will be missed.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Leon Lord, her sister Nancy Kerns, and her husband, John Ellis. Sue is survived by her sisters Linda Reeve (David) of Melbourne, FL, and Marie Walsh (Ron) of Cortland, NY, as well as her nieces and nephews Carin, Christine, Catie, Andrew, Emily, and Colin.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Cortland Park for their compassionate care and support during her final journey.
Interment is in Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville NY.
