COBLESKILL - The SUNY Cobleskill men’s soccer team will enter the 2023 season ranked sixth overall in the North Atlantic Conference’s (NAC) Western Division Pre-Season Poll by the league’s coaches. The Fighting Tigers are coming off a 2022 campaign which saw them post a 2-15-2 overall record including a 2-7 record versus conference opponents.
As the program attempts to move forward this season, Fighting Tiger Head Coach Joe Machado will welcome a recruiting class of 15 newcomers to the pitch this year. Since arriving on campus for pre-season the Cobleskill mentor has been pleased with the team’s overall play as he enters his ninth year directing the program. But he is well aware to what is needed to be successful during the upcoming season.
Among the newcomers first-year goalie Adam Champlin, South Kortright, an All-New York State netminder should be an upgrade between the pipes with help from first-year defender Garrett Aikins, Morris; and first-year forward Connor Fancher, Worcester, will also see significant time this year as he moves up front to bolster the offensive attack.
Cobleskill will open the campaign on Friday Sept. 1 when they travel to North Adams, Mass. for a non-league meeting with the Trailblazers of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
