Theresa Lynn “Terry” Herwerth passed away Monday, July 21, 2025, at the Medical University of South Carolina following open heart surgery.

Terry was born in village of Walton on April 3, 1963. She was the daughter of William and Dorothy Desbiens.

She graduated from Queensbury High School in 1981.

On Nov. 12, 1983, she married Dana M. Wicks in Glens Falls, to whom she was married faithfully until she was widowed on July 24, 1997. During their life together they had three children. Terry supported Dana as he served in the United States Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After leaving the military, Dana and Terry were employed by the United States Government working for the U.S. Department of State. They completed a tour in Milan, Italy and had just begun a tour in Alice Springs, Australia, when Dana passed away.

From there she went on to become a pillar in her household. The strongest symbol of a mother you can imagine. After living in Manassas, Virgina, where she had made her home with Dana, she relocated with her three children back to Queensbury.

Terry was very gifted at interior design and began to flip houses as a way to support her children, on whom she stayed focused and devoted to raising. Putting them first above herself until they were ready to leave home.

The next chapter of her life after seeing her kids graduate began with meeting Jon E. Herwerth. They would have been married 20 years on Nov. 4, 2025. She continued to love interior design and was an avid crafter and had a huge heart for dogs.

Terry relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2023. She worked as a bookkeeper and was enjoying serving at her church, NewSpring Church, doing administrative duties.

Terry was a loving and devoted wife and mother and treasured her children and grandchildren and time spent with them.

Survivors besides her parents include three children, Christopher Wicks and his wife Beth and sons Toby and Ollie all of Charlotte, North Carolina, Megan Carter and her husband Lenny and sons Luke and Link all of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Sean Wicks and his wife Abby and their daughter Emma all of Charlotte, North Carolina; two sisters, Ann Marion and her husband Tom of Highland, and Jackie Papuzza and her husband Jim of Albany; her sister-in-law Cindy Wicks of Cleveland, Tennessee; her brother-in-law Dale Wicks of Cleveland, Tennessee; and her nieces and nephews, the Coluccio family of Fruitland Park, Florida, the Murphy family of Springfield, Missouri, the Wicks family of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and the Wicks family of Cleveland, Tennessee.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 26, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Carolina Forest Chapel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Burial services were held in Queensbury Wednesday, July 30, at Pine View Cemetery. In honor of Terry, the family wore beautiful colors to celebrate her vibrant life.
