WALTON — Lucinda Rider, the vice president of finance and chief financial officer at UHS Delaware Valley Hospital, has been named a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), a designation held by fewer than 2,000 professionals nationwide.

The fellowship, one of HFMA’s highest distinctions, is awarded to those who have been members for at least five years, hold a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) credential, possess a bachelor’s degree, provide a letter of recommendation, and demonstrate leadership through industry service.

Rider, who has overseen the hospital’s financial operations for 24 years, has been recognized for her contributions to the healthcare finance industry, including serving on HFMA’s National Advisory Council, being named a Becker’s Healthcare honoree for three consecutive years, and participating as a panelist on financial strategy discussions. She is also an active member of the Women’s Rural Healthcare Executive Network and the Upstate NY Women’s Alliance Network.

Under Rider’s leadership, UHS Delaware Valley Hospital has maintained a positive financial standing through strategic investment and cost-containment measures. In addition to her role as CFO, she serves as the hospital’s compliance chair, board chair of the UHS Employee Federal Credit Union, and a board member of the Rural Health Network of South Central New York.

UHS Delaware Valley Hospital is part of United Health Services, a nonprofit healthcare system serving Greater Binghamton and the surrounding counties. HFMA, a national organization with over 100,000 members, provides financial professionals with resources and certifications to navigate the complexities of healthcare finance.
