UNADILLA — One of the region’s longest-running community traditions will return Sunday, June 14, as the Unadilla Fire Department hosts the 75th annual Flag Day parade.

The parade will step off at 3 p.m., bringing together marching bands, youth organizations, scouts, firefighters, antique vehicles and tractors in a celebration of patriotism and community.

Marchers, including the Unatego Junior-Senior High School Band, scout troops and youth sports teams, will assemble at Unatego Elementary School beginning at 2 p.m. Fire apparatus, antique vehicles and tractors will line up on Main Street near Noble Street before joining the procession.

The Unadilla Fire Department has extended an invitation to fire departments across the region, continuing a tradition that regularly draws more than 15 departments and auxiliaries.

Spectators along the route can expect several familiar features. Country Squire Realty will distribute free American flags before the parade, a longstanding tradition for local families. Members of the American Legion will offer poppies in exchange for donations benefiting veterans and military families.

Adding to the festivities, the Unadilla Chamber of Commerce float will toss 500 Unadilla-branded tote bags filled with information about local events, businesses and community activities.

Now in its 75th year, the Flag Day parade remains one of Unadilla’s signature annual events, drawing residents and visitors alike to Main Street for an afternoon of civic pride and small-town celebration.
