Walton: Free Rabies Clinic July 13

Posted

WALTON - Delaware County Public Health will offer a free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets on Monday, July 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 55 Townsend St.

Public health officials encourage pet owners to pre-register for the clinic, though walk-ins may be accommodated as space allows. Assistance with registration is available by calling Delaware County Public Health at 607-832-5200.

Under New York law, all dogs and cats are required to be vaccinated against rabies. Puppies and kittens are eligible to receive their first rabies vaccination at 3 months of age.

Pet owners are asked to bring previous rabies vaccination records so staff can determine whether their animals qualify for a three-year vaccination certificate.

For safety, dogs must be leashed and under control, while cats and ferrets must be transported in secure carriers. Owners are also reminded to clean up after their pets while on the church grounds.

The veterinarian will be available only during the scheduled clinic hours.
