WALTON - On Sept. 18 at approximately 11:20 a.m., the Walton Police Department and the New York State Police responded to the Walton Central School District for a report of a threat made on social media.
A student circulated a threat through social media that caused panic and chaos for fellow students, parents, school officials, the Walton and surrounding communities
Following an investigation, a 14-year-old was arrested on Sept. 19 without incident. She was charged with making a terrorist Threat, a felony, and six counts of aggravated harassment, misdemeanors. The 14-year-old was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charges.
The Walton Police Department, along with other law enforcement, take any threat with extreme seriousness and make every effort to find the responsible parties.
The New York State Police and Sidney Police Department assisted with the incident.
