Chilly mornings and rain

Posted

“Last Wednesday night, Sept. 23, it chilled off pretty quickly. And Thursday, Sept. 24, started with some scattered frost up here and 35 degrees. Friday, Sept. 25, was much worse, because we got up and it was 31 and we had a widespread frost.

The 4-year old that lives across the driveway said, ‘Uncle Frank, it snowed.’ You know, you never argue with a 4-year old. I said, ‘No, that’s frost.’ And he said, ‘No, you’re wrong. It’s snow.’

However, it was the first time I had to defrost my windshield. Anyway, things did warm up, except not a whole lot, because if you look at all this cloud cover we’ve had, the daytime temperatures here have only gone up at most during the day 4 or 5 degrees.

When you start at 52 and go to 56 or you start at 54 and go to 59, we’re really looking at, not much of a change. And you can thank all the clouds for that.

However, the trees are really changing color. So we might actually have a beautiful fall. We have reds and oranges and yellows. So that’s the first time in a while, you can look up and say, it’s getting better and better. But this is also called fall for a reason. You better find the rakes. It’s one of those things where we always have to clean up, but while it’s out there, we can enjoy it.

I’m going to next week, summarize not just September, but the entire summer. And temperatures for Wednesday, Sept. 30, were in the 60s, and then they’re talking about a heatwave, but not really for us. We’re going to stay in the maybe low 70s at most and then next week get ready probably Thursday.

This coming Tuesday night, expect probably another frost because we’re going to be down in the low 30s again. And between now and then, it’s going to be changeable weather. Expect some rain on Thursday afternoon. Rain on Friday, maybe some rain on Sunday, and it’s all the cold front that’s coming through that’s going to lower our temperatures below normal for next week. So get ready. But keep smiling. Look at the colors and say, it looks nice out there. Have a good one.” ~ Frank Ward
