Strange weather

“Fall is like spring. Temperature and precipitation go up and go down. And it does it daily. Last Wednesday, Oct. 7, we had 3 days of frost with the lowest temperature being 27 degrees. But on those same days, we had daytime highs in the upper 60s. Normal is about 57 degrees. We almost had, no rain, and then we had the remains of a hurricane, which gave us 4 inches worth of rain. And then suddenly, we had a normal month as far as that goes for precipitation.

We had totally clear skies, and then we had a number of very gloomy days, where the temperatures and the humidity that more felt like summertime. Anyway, what’s up and coming is going to be in the other direction. Because it looks like Saturday we’ll be lucky to get to 40 degrees. And then we could even possibly see a snow flurry in the middle of this whole thing.

Tuesday, Oct. 13 we had 72 degrees. That’s way above normal for the middle part of October. So, you don’t know what to really expect. The one thing I can tell you: we’ve had the nicest fall colors in about 4 years. Go out and enjoy it because they’re predicting winds to come in here for Friday night and Saturday. And if that’s the case, they may not last very long. But it’s really beautiful as you’re driving along all of our streets. It looks gorgeous on our hillsides. It’s been a long time since that actually really happened.

But also it looks like Thursday, Oct. 15, might be the day to maybe mow your lawn for the last time. I’m going to ignore mine because I did it a few days ago, and it can grow if it’s going to, for the rest of the fall time. Anyway, the one thing about my job is every single day there’s something new to write about. So we’ll see what Mother Nature’s going to throw at me for next week so I can make my, uh, my article a little bit interesting. It always is. We’ll look forward to next week and see what happens. Have a good one.” ~ Frank Ward
