Youth Bureau seeks nominations for annual award recipients

The Delaware County Youth Bureau will mark a milestone this fall as it hosts its 40th annual Youth Awards Banquet, a tradition that celebrates the contributions of young people and the adults who support them. The banquet is scheduled for Oct. 30 at the Castle on the Delaware in Walton.

Each year, the event highlights youth volunteers, adults who dedicate time to working with young people, and professionals who, in the words of the bureau, go “above and beyond” in service to youth. Nominees will be honored with awards and a complimentary dinner, along with invitations extended to their nominators and family members.

The bureau is accepting nominations through Sept. 25, with a final deadline of Oct. 3. Categories include Outstanding Youth Worker, Outstanding Young Humanitarian, Fundraiser for Youth Projects, Outstanding Youth Group, Outstanding Worker Against Substance Abuse, and Personal Growth, the latter recognizing youth under 21 who have overcome obstacles to reach their goals.

“We encourage the community to think about the young people and mentors who are making a difference in Delaware County,” said Lara Yambor, director of the Youth Bureau. “This is an evening to recognize their resilience, service and commitment.”

Tickets for additional guests are $30 per person. For more information, or to request a nomination ballot, contact the Youth Bureau at 607-832-5310.
