Alma Mae Rasmussen, 86, of Delhi, passed away on Jan. 8, 2021 in Indianapolis, Ind. Born on Jan. 28, 1934 in Delhi, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Jeanette (Patterson) Hunt. Alma married Anton “Pete” Rasmussen on June 16, 1962, a marriage that spanned an incredible 45 years.

After graduating from Delaware Academy in 1952, Alma went to work in Hamden as a bank teller. The bank’s name had changed many times over the years, but one thing that remained the same was Alma being there to greet you. She retired from her position as branch manager in 1996.

Alma loved to sew and did so from the time she could first hold a needle. For years, she made most of her own clothing, her bridesmaids’ dresses, and even her own wedding gown. She had a love for quilting. As a young girl she helped her mother make quilts for neighbors as part of the Spring Lake Missionary Society. Over the years she had mastered her craft. Her hand piecing, appliqué work and quilting stitches were appreciated by all levels of quilters.

Alma was a faithful parishioner of the First Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Delaware County Town and Country Quilters, and the Village Quilters. The friendships she made through these groups were very important to her. The family would like to thank all of them for their support and encouragement over the years.

She is survived by her two sons, Scott of Delhi, and Brian and his wife, Lynda, of Fishers, Ind., with whom she was residing at the time of her passing; brother-in-law Bruce Rasmussen, and sisters-in-law Karen Rasmussen, Vera Hunt, Gail (Scott) Purdy, all of Delhi, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She was a loving Grandma to Liz and Kenny Rasmussen of Delhi, and Ciara (Elijah) Stewart, Christopher and Erik Rasmussen of Fishers, Ind., and also her great-grandchildren William and Charlotte Stewart.

Alma was predeceased by her husband, Anton Peter Rasmussen, and her three siblings Gertrude Hewitt-Mondore, Harold (Donna) Hunt, and Ralph Hunt, as well as her brother-in-law Edward Rasmussen.

A celebration of life and burial at Meredith Square Cemetery, Meredith, will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.indianafuneralcare.com.
