Sophia Wakin of Delhi was one of 45 SUNY Oneonta student-athletes inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society during a ceremony on Wednesday, April 3. She  was also one of 19 SUNY Oneonta students who volunteered at the annual adaptive basketball clinic on campus, created through a partnership between the sport and exercise science department and EDD Adaptive Sports. The event in the Chase Gym April 14 allowed area individuals who have varying intellectual and adaptive disabilities to hone their basketball skills. Wakin is studying sport management and is part of the class of 2025.

Emily Andersen of Andes was named to the Elmira College dean’s list for the winter 2024 term. Full-time undergraduate students registered for 12 computable credit hours earning a grade point average of 3.6 or higher are placed on the college dean’s list.

John Arnold of East Meredith was one of 21 students inducted into the Sigma Tau Delta honor society at Saturday, April 13. Arnold is studying English and is part of the SUNY Oneonta class of 2025.

Hannah Hasselbarth of Sidney was one of 20 SUNY Oneonta students inducted into the Tau Sigma National Honor Society for the 2023-24 academic year April 14. Hasselbarth is studying art and design and is part of the class of 2025. Tau Sigma is designed exclusively for transfer students. The mission of the organization is to recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students.

Lacey Eckert from Bloomville has been named to St. Lawrence University’s dean’s list for achieving academic excellence during the fall 2023 semester. Eckert is a member of the class of 2026 and is majoring in data science. Eckert attended South Kortright Central School.

More than 50 SUNY Oneonta students and the theatre department produced “Cabaret” April 24 to 27. Participating were Jessy Gardner of Davenport Center and Oskar Isaksson-Stahler of Franklin.

Twelve top-performing SUNY Delhi students were inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma, and Alpha Phi Sigma honor societies in an April recognition ceremony. The inductees, including Delawre County students Ryan Hunter of Delhi and Jordan Wamsley of Davenport Center, fulfilled all requirements for membership and were selected based on their dedication to scholarship, leadership, fellowship, and service.

Velga V. Kundzins of Grand Gorge achieved the highest GPA for their class year in the SUNY Canton Legal Studies program at the 2024 Frederick W. Saburro Honors Convocation.

Flagler College celebrated the academic and personal accomplishments of more than 500 graduates in the class of 2024 with a commencement ceremony at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre Sunday, May 5 including of Faith Dianich from Bloomville. She was honored with a bachelor’s degree in economics and accounting, finance, & economics departmental award.
