The towns bicentennial meeting will be held Thursday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. at the town hall. Come with your idess on plans and be ready to help.

Hamden Schoolhouse Museum, East River Road, is open for visitors to come see the many interesting items from past years on display there. Historians Caroline and William Wright will be available on these dates to show you around, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Saturday, Aug.26; Saturday, Sept. 9, and Sunday, Sept. 24; Sunday, Oct. 8, Saturday, Oct. 21 - or by appointment. Grandma’s recipe: Rich Liddle’s request for my Chili Sauce; 12 ripe tomatoes peeled and diced, 6 onions cut up, 3 green peppers cut up, 2 cups sugar, 2 1/2 cups vinegar, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp. cloves, 1 tsp nutmeg. Mix all together in a large pot and simmer slowly for about 4 hours. Fill pint jars and seal while hot.

My Thoughts of the week: I hope all got out to enjoy the Walton Fair this week. There is always so much to see and do down there for the week.

Senior Moments: The most overlooked advantage to owning a computer is that if they foul up, there’s no law against whacking them around a little.

A cute saying: Patriotism is easy to understand in America. It means looking out for yourself by looking out for your country

Helpful Hints: Got a fruit fly problem? Pour some balsamic vinegar in a small bowl, put plastic wrap tightly over the top and poke holes in it. Place near fruit fly infestation - it will attract and kill the flies.

Worship services for the DeLancey, Hamden and West Delhi churches during August are held in DeLancey Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Connie Stone.

Hamden Senior Citizen dish to pass dinner and meeting Wednesday, Aug. 30 at noon at the town hall. Come join the others for a fun day together.
