Take a scenic hike
Hancock boasts numerous scenic hiking trails, including Jensen’s Ledges, on Bouchoux Brook Road. Jensen’s Ledges, locally called “The Ledges” is challenging even for advanced hikers, but leads to expansive views of the Upper Delaware River valley. The Finger Lakes Trail and Rock Rift Rail Trail and Fire Tower, located adjacent to the Cannonsville Reservoir just outside the town of Hancock in the town of Tompkins, provide challenging and easy hikes. The Finger Lakes Trail, with trailhead parking at the intersection of state Routes 268 and 10, starts beneath the canopy of mature forest and leads to Rock Rift Fire Tower. The rail trail is suited to beginner hikers and history buffs as the trail is the former rail bed where coal, tracks, and abandoned pole lines lead nature lovers through the former towns of Rock Rift, Granton and Cannonsville. The Partridge Island trail, located off Old Route 17, near the Partridge Island cemetery, is flat, with easy access and stunning views of the Delaware River.
