Franklin Purple Devils girls soccer took an early lead and carried it through to a 1-0 semi final victory over Laurens in the Stamford Mayor’s Cup semi final on Friday, Sept. 9.
Franklin’s Leah Brower headed on a Shannon Kingsbury corner kick to give the Purple Devils the lead less than thee minutes into the game. Laurens and Franklin traded some good scoring chances. However, both teams prevented any further scoring.
Franklin’s goalkeeper Madeline Hyzer recorded eight saves to preserve the shutout for the Purple Devils.
Lauren’s Ryleigh Williams made two saves in the goal for the Leopards.
Franklin’s win gave them a TVL 2-0 standing with a 4-0 record overal
