Gary Paul LePinnet, 62, of Citrus Springs, Fla., passed away peacefully at his home on June 30, 2022 from complications of a long battle with diabetes. He was the son of Ralph and Lydia LePinnet. Gary was born in Teaneck, NJ before spending his childhood on the farm in Hamden, and later raising his family in Walton.

Gary was a graduate of O’Neill High School in Walton, and a member of the first Orange Crush football team of 1979. He loved carpentry, and was part of the local Carpenters Union and helped to rebuild the Walton Football Booster Club facilities. After leaving Walton, Gary lived in Colorado Springs, Co., Grand Forks, ND, and eventually made his way to Citrus Springs, Fla. Gary loved watching and playing all kinds of sports; his favorites being football and basketball. He enjoyed hunting, spending time on the farm, being outdoors, and playing cards with his family and friends. Gary was a ‘gentle giant’; always curious and eager to learn, and enjoyed sharing that knowledge with his loved ones.

Gary is survived by his loving family: his mother, Lydia LePinnet, his four children, Steven LePinnet (Emily LePinnet), of Cortland, Bridgette Hulbert (Eric Hulbert), of Delhi, Jamie LePinnet of New York, and Shane LePinnet of Mount Upton, along with his three grandchildren, Leah LePinnet, Vivian Hulbert, and Emmett LePinnet.

He is also survived by his siblings: a brother, Glen (Ann LePinnet), of Walton, sisters, Patti Taggart and Nancy DiJiulio of Franklin, Terri (Bob Sampogna), of Snead Ferry, NC, and Diane White (Bob White) of Cocoa Beach, Fla. Gary was surrounded by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his father, Ralph LePinnet.
