Glen Walter Pomeroy

Glen Walter Pomeroy was called home to the Lord on Thursday, May 9. The son of the late George Walter Pomeroy and Florence Marjorie (Strong) Pomeroy, he was born in Franklin in 1942.

Glen was a 1962 graduate of Walton Central School. He was a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church. Glen worked at Bailey’s, Del-Met, and for 28 years was a member of the sanitation crew at Breakstones.

People said they knew Glen was present when they heard his hearty laugh. He enjoyed gardening and decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas. Over the years he collected Santas in all shapes and sizes. Glen was very fond of visiting with others, especially at the Delaware County Fair. It took him a long time to walk the grounds because he had to stop and talk with EVERYONE he knew. We used to laugh and say that he had been vaccinated with a phonograph needle. He also enjoyed going to all kinds of car races, tractor pulls and derbys with his grandsons. In the 18 summers, before his accident sidelined him, he worked with members of the Covell family (lifelong family friends) at the Fair.

Glen is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joann (Gustin) Pomeroy, his son Glenn R. Pomeroy, daughter-in-law BillieJo (Wells) and his three beloved grandchildren, Rebecca, Collin, and William. Also surviving are his cousins Robert and Edna Pomeroy, Janet (Pomeroy) and Dave Darling, Richard Blackman, Kim (Pomeroy) Lafond, Virginia Blackman and a special Aunt Alice Blackman.

A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Donations in memory of Glen may be made to the Walton FD/EMS, 61 West Street, Walton NY 13856 or the United Presbyterian Church, 58 East Street, Walton NY 13856 Memo: Special Gifts Fund.
