Hanford Mills Museum Exploration Day Sept. 23

Posted

Exploration Days at Hanford Mills Museum continue with the goal of giving visitors a chance to explore the mill and experience engaging activities and demonstrations.

Join Hanford Mills for our Metal at the Mill Exploration Day Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This day will feature the return of the Dan Rion Memorial Antique Engine Jamboree, highlighting regional collectors of historic engines, tractors, doodlebugs, outboard motors, and model boats and other machines. The 1948 GMC Bovina Fire Department Engine with Pumper will make its first appearance at the mill, and we’re excited to announce the return of the 1957 Nash Metropolitan Hook & Ladder Firetruck ride that was purchased from the Catskill Game Farm. Also, watch the Catskill Conquest Rally of classic cars rumble through Hanford Mills for an afternoon stop.

Hanford Mills staff and volunteers will display and demonstrate some of the gas engines that are part of our historic collection, and the steam plant will also be up and running. Blacksmith demonstrations will also take place at the museum’s forge.

Intelligent Green Solutions will be on-site to talk about solar power for homes and businesses. Hear traditional music from The Stoddard Hollow String Band from noon until 3 p.m. Visitors are welcome to bring their lunch and snacks and enjoy them at our picnic tables, and Helen’s Little Kitchen food truck will also be on site.
