John joined his parents in heaven on March 10, 2023, after a short but mean battle with cancer.
John was born in Oneonta on Jan. 11, 1946, to Lawrence James and Elsie (Swenson) Davidson. He grew up on the family farm and was a graduate of A.L. Kellogg School and Broome Tech.
John was an outdoor guy. He loved the Catskill Mountains, beautiful streams and wildlife. He enjoyed hiking, gardening and feeding the birds. He was very proud of his lawn and perennial gardens.
Of all the jobs John had, the title of Grandad-O was the most cherished. John was a kind person who loved life, his home, family, meeting people and helping others.
John is survived by his darling Carole Sabatini, his daughters Jacqueline Goodnough and Jennifer (Hugh) Mitchell (mother Rosemary), and granddaughter Emily Rose Mitchell, his sister Joan Crunden and her sons Jim (Sidra) and Chris (Gabi) and their children, and many cousins including special cousin George (Barb) Thompson.
John was predeceased by his parents Jim and Elsie Davidson and his son-in-law Erich Goodnough.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Catskill Forest Association or A.L. Kellogg Athletic Field and Pavilion.
A celebration of life will be held at a time to be announced on April 22 at the Treadwell United Methodist Church, and burial will be in the Franklin Ouleout Valley Cemetery.
