Marshall J. Vandermark

Marshall J. Vandermark, also known as “Dalton,” of Sidney, passed away at the age of 73 on Thursday, May 16, 2024. By his side was his love of 16 years, Pam, and his fur baby, Hoss. 

Marshall was born June 18, 1950 in Deposit. After high school he served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Queens Farms as a master mechanic before becoming a police officer for the NYC DEP. He took great pride in being a police officer. He served the people for 35 years before retiring as lieutenant. Marshall dedicated his life to helping others, whether it was advice or lending a hand. He was one person you could always count on. 

Marshall found great enjoyment from woodworking, watching NASCAR, his pets, and just chatting with family or friends. His generosity and compassion for others will always be remembered. He will be greatly missed by many. 

Marshall is survived by his love, Pam; faithful companion, Hoss; brothers Jeff (Dawn), Leonard, Mark (Deb), and Vere (Patti); sisters Jennifer Bunt (Howard) and Melissa Davis (Kendall); as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Marshall and Vera Vandermark, and his sister, Genevieve.  Friends were invited to call Monday, May 20, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney. Funeral services were at 1 at the funeral chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA or PBA.
