Robert J. Yevich, 97, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Downsville, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 18, 2022. Bob was born June 9, 1925 in Scranton, Pa., the son of the late John and Helen (Cherno) Yevich. 

He was very proud of his service to this country in U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946. During his service, he saw action in the Pacific, the invasion of Luzon, Iwo Jima and Okinawa. On June 20, 1947, he married the former Joyce Gladstone in Shinhopple. They were married 72 years before her death on April 18, 2020. 

Bob worked for the reservoir maintenance for Department of Environmental Protection for 33 years before retiring. He was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Downsville, James S. Moore Post #167 American Legion in Downsville, and lifetime member of Truman C. Tobey Post #32 in Walton. 

Bob is survived by his loving family, his daughter Patricia Mushrush and husband Michael of Sarasota, Fla., son John Yevich and wife Cindy of Pinellas Park, Fla., and son Andrew Yevich and wife Julie of Davenport, Fla. He is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, daughter Kathie Acocelli, sister Catherine Townsend, brother-in-law Gerry Townsend and great-granddaughter Lainey Joy Yevich. 

Bob will be laid to rest at Paige Cemetery in Downsville at a day and time to be announced.
