SIDNEY - Sidney Police Benevolent Association endorsed Acting Delaware County District Attorney Shawn Smith for District Attorney in November’s general election, via a press release issued March 20.
The press release, signed by PBA President Christopher Dionne and Vice President Royce Terry, said the department has worked with Smith for many years, both in local court and through county court. Smith cares about his community and the people who reside and travel within, the press release continues. Most importantly, Smith cares about the individuals who go out daily and make communities a safer place, the press release states.
The police department has noticed a high increase in communication, compassion and transparency from the district attorney’s office since Smith took over the office in January, the press release continues. Sidney Police believe Smith is the one to lead Delaware County to be one of the strictest and safest counties within New York state regarding criminal justice, the press release concludes.
