Trout Creek FD to celebrate 60 years with parade

Posted

The Trout Creek Volunteer Fire Company held its original meeting March 30, 1963. Around 60 people signed up at the meeting to join the company. In conjunction with its 60th anniversary Trout Creek Fire Department will hold its third annual UTV Parade/Poker Run Sunday, Sept. 24. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. with the parade and poker run kicking off at 12:00. The last two events have averaged 60-70 side-by-sides.

This year there are five categories of prizes that all participants are eligible to win: furthest traveled, dirtiest UTV, best decorated, along with which seems to be the favorite - oldest driver award - and new this year - best appearing fire department.

To be eligible for the new award, fire departments near or far can enter their fire department UTV into the parade or poker run, then bring along additional members with their UTVs. The most represented fire department will walk away with the award for best appearing.

This event will go off rain or shine; parade participation is free, the poker run fee is $10 per person.

The fire company will be cooking barbecued chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs and sausages.

Also during the day there will be g a garden tractor pull in the department’s back lot, and to end the day, any UTV driver that wants to can pull their UTV and claim bragging rights for the year.
