Jane Howard, 94, of Delhi, passed away Saturday evening, Sept. 30, 2023 at O’Connor Hospital in Delhi.
Born on Dec. 29, 1928 in Bovina, Jane was the daughter of the late Wilford and Viola (Russell) Barnhart.
She was married to Arthur J. Howard Jr. on Aug. 20, 1949 in Bovina Center.
Jane was employed at several places over the years, including the Delhi 5/10 store, Dairy Delight, Norman’s Studio and as a telephone operator. She also helped run the family dairy farm with her husband, Arthur.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting and sewing. Jane loved to dance and also enjoyed spending time with Arthur camping and traveling.
Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by her siblings Herbert, Robert, Sonny and Dot.
Jane is survived by her husband of 74 years, Arthur Howard Jr. of Delhi; four children, Robert Howard of Delhi, Mark (Lu-Ann Powell) Howard of Delhi, Tom (Alysia) Howard of Oneonta and Patty Perkins of North Carolina; six grandchildren, Chris (Jess), Ken (Shannon), Kristen, Emily, Rachael (Gabe) and Ryan; 10 great-grandchildren, a sister Edith Platt of Red Hook; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the First Presbyterian Church of Delhi, 4 Clinton Street, Delhi, with the Rev. Jamie Tyrell. Friends and relatives are invited to call one hour prior to the service at the church from 1-2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jane’s memory can be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Delhi.
