DOWNSVILLE - Walton/Downsville boys varsity soccer clinched a spot in the James Campbell Tournament Championship after a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Delhi, Wednesday, Sept. 4. With just 19 seconds left in the first half, the Warriors’ Chase Mabery broke the deadlock, converting a through ball from Tyler Reed to give W/D a 1-0 lead.
Despite relentless pressure in the second half, W/D couldn’t extend their lead until Mabery struck again, this time off a pass from Travis Houck, sealing the game with 23 minutes left. Mabery’s two-goal performance pushed W/D into Saturday’s final at 7 p.m.
